Lea began her career as an Emergency Medical Technician with the North West Ambulance Service. After earning her paramedic qualifications from Liverpool John Moores University, she spent several years responding to 999 medical emergencies across the North West of England. In 2014, Lea was selected to join the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), an elite unit composed of specially trained personnel equipped to handle high-risk and complex emergency situations.
Working closely with the police and fire & rescue services, HART teams respond to major incidents within the ‘inner cordon’ or ‘hot zone,’ where they are responsible for triaging and treating casualties under extreme conditions. Additionally, they are tasked with ensuring the safety and care of fellow emergency personnel who may be injured during these challenging operations.
Lea acquired valuable experience handling major incidents and mass casualty events, but ultimately chose to step away from her position with HART, transitioning instead into a training role within the ambulance service. It was here that Lea discovered her passion for teaching, a passion that continues to drive her to this day.
Lea is a firm believer in the importance of first aid. She strongly advocates that people of all ages and backgrounds have the potential to make a difference in even the most challenging situations.
In 2022, Lea returned to her hometown, now the city of Wrexham, and embarked on a new entrepreneurial journey by founding the Emergency Skills Academy. Fuelled by her passion and drive, Lea dreams of bringing her expertise to Wrexham and the surrounding areas, empowering others with the skills and knowledge to save lives.
